Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has reaffirmed his admiration for Nigerian football legend Jay-Jay Okocha, describing him as his greatest footballer of all time.

Iwobi, who currently plays for Fulham in the English Premier League, has often spoken about his deep respect for Okocha, who also happens to be his uncle. Growing up, he watched the former Nigerian international mesmerize fans with his exceptional dribbling skills and creativity on the pitch, shaping his own footballing journey.
Speaking on the "Is This Seat Taken?" podcast, the former Arsenal and Everton midfielder did not hesitate when asked about his football GOAT (Greatest of All Time).
“In the sports? Forever my uncle, Jay Jay Okocha. I have to shout him out all the time. On and off the field,” Iwobi stated.
Okocha, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most skillful players, made a lasting impact on both club and international football. His stints at Paris Saint-Germain and Bolton Wanderers, as well as his heroics with the Nigerian national team, are still fondly remembered by fans across the world.
Iwobi also reflected on how Okocha’s influence went beyond the football pitch, playing a crucial role in shaping his professional career and personal life.
“I used to go watch his matches and training sessions. He is the one that really taught me how to express myself,” Iwobi shared.
“And off the pitch, he is always advising me on how to be professional, manage my money, how to move, stay humble and grounded. So he will always be my idol,” he added.
Having begun his professional career at Arsenal, Iwobi later moved to Everton in 2019 before securing a switch to Fulham in 2023. Under the guidance of Marco Silva, he has continued to develop as a key figure for the London club.
